The Emirates Diabetes Society (EDS) is a non-profit medical society which was established in 1996. EDS represents a cross section of specialist physicians and healthcare providers who are actively involved in the management of diabetes and endocrinology.
The Emirates Diabetes Society is the primary medical society in the United Arab Emirates and its primary objective isto increase public awareness and encourage health improvement, promote the exchange of high-quality information about diabetes, and provide education for people with diabetes and their healthcare providers.The society conducts a number of educational programs, which includes scientific as well as educational programs targeted towards Diabetes Educators.
Every year the EDS congress targets Diabetes and Endocrine diseases and in this effort The Emirates Diabetes Society provides programs covering endocrine related diseases as well as highlight diabetes as an epidemic in the region.
Diabetes currently affects 246 million people across the globe and is expected to affect 380 million by 2025 (Ref. International Diabetes Federation). Against such a backdrop, it becomes ever more important for medical authorities on Diabetes worldwide to come together more often to better understand, educate and impart relevant trainings to counter its spread and to develop new improved ways to offer medical care to all those suffering from it.
Emirates Diabetes Society takes the mantle to educate and continue the training for the medical fraternity with the ever popular Emirates Diabetes & Endocrine Congress which has been in the country for the last six years.
Emirates Diabetes & Endocrine Congress (EDEC) is organized by Emirates Diabetes Society. EDEC is the region's premier platform to update attendees on the recent advances in the ever-changing field of diabetes and endocrine diseases.
