Dr. Boris P. Kovatchev is Professor at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine, Adjunct Professor at UVA’s School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the founding Director of the UVA Center for Diabetes Technology. He received his PhD in Mathematics from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” Bulgaria in 1989. Kovatchev has a 25-year track record in mathematical modeling and computing, with primary focus on diabetes technology since 1996.
Currently, he is Principal Investigator of several projects dedicated to the development and testing of closed-loop control and decision support systems for diabetes, including the large-scale NIH/NIDDK International Diabetes Closed-Loop Trial (grant UC4 DK 108483), Project “Nightlight” (NIH grant RO1 DK 085623), and the University of Virginia’s PrIMeD Project (Precision Individualized Medicine for Diabetes). Kovatchev is author of over 200 peer-reviewed publications and holds 85 patents. In 2008 he received the U.S. Diabetes Technology Leadership Award; in 2011 he was named the UVA’s Edlich-Henderson Inventor of the Year, and in 2013 he was the recipient of JDRF’s Gerold and Kayla Grodsky Award presented for outstanding scientific contributions to diabetes research. Jay S. Skyler, MD, MACP, is currently a Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics, & Psychology, in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, & Metabolism, Department of Medicine, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami, Florida. He served as Director of that Division from 2000 to 2004. At the University of Miami, he is Associate Director for Academic Programs in the Diabetes Research Institute. He is Chairman of the NIH (NIDDK)- sponsored Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet, an international network conducting clinical trials to prevent type 1 diabetes or interdict the type 1 diabetes disease process. His research interests are in clinical aspects of diabetes, particularly improving the care of type 1 diabetes through meticulous glycemic control, psychosocial and behavioral support, and immune system intervention. He is widely acclaimed for developing “algorithms” for patient adjustment of insulin doses. He is a past President of the American Diabetes Association, the International Diabetes Immunotherapy Group, and the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation, and was a Vice President of the International Diabetes Federation. He served as a member of the Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Subspecialty Examining Board of the American Board of Internal Medicine, as Chairman of the Council of Subspecialty Societies of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and a member of the ACP Board of Regents. He was founding Editor-in-Chief of Diabetes Care, and currently is Scientific Editor of International Diabetes Monitor and Associate Editor of Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics.

Dr. Kenneth Cusi serves as Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism in the Department of Medicine at the University of Florida. He received his medical degree in Argentina from the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine and is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism. He completed his residency at the Center of Medical Education & Clinical Research (CEMIC) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and a clinical fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Prior to joining the University of Florida, Dr. Cusi was a faculty member of over 15 years in the Diabetes Division at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) and the Veterans Health Administration System in Texas; one of the leading diabetes programs in the country. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE). He has actively participated in many clinical diabetes programs and in the training of many young researchers and clinicians. He is the principal investigator of various ongoing clinical translational research projects in obesity, Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Dr. Inzucchi received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University in the Bronx, NY and his M.D. degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and his post-doctoral Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Yale-New Haven Hospital, in New Haven, CT. Dr. Inzucchi has authored or co-authored over 250 manuscripts, monographs, textbook chapters, and abstracts, and has lectured at a national and international level on a wide variety of endocrine topics. Dr. Inzucchi has a large academic clinical practice involving a broad spectrum of patients with endocrine diseases. His specific clinical interests include diabetes as well as pituitary/adrenal disorders. His current research involves studies on the link between type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular complications; management of hyperglycemia in the hospital; and diagnostic criteria for diabetes and related conditions.

Anne L. Peters, MD, is a professor of clinical medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. She runs diabetes centers in Beverly Hills and in underserved East Los Angeles. In addition to her clinical work, she has been a principle investigator on multiple grants, has written over 200 articles and 4 books, and has given over 500 lectures locally, nationally and internationally. She has been on multiple guideline writing committees for the treatment of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Her major interests involve translating research findings, from lifestyle interventions to technology, to people with diabetes throughout the socioeconomic spectrum. She was the recipient of the ADA Outstanding Physician Clinician Award, the Bernardo Houssay Award from the National Minority Quality Forum and is receiving a 2021 Endocrine Society Laureate Award for Public Service.

Dr. Bryan R. Haugen was appointed Head of the Division of Endocrinology on August 1, 2007 and became the Mary Rossick Kern and Jerome H. Kern Chair in Endocrine Neoplasms Research. Dr. Haugen attended Medical School at the Mayo Medical School, receiving his MD in 1987. He completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency at the University of Colorado, 1987-1990. He then did his Endocrinology Fellowship at the University of Colorado (1990- 1993) under the mentorship of Dr. E. Chester Ridgway. His research and clinical expertise focuses on the causes, biological behavior and treatment of thyroid cancer. He is acknowledged nationally and internationally for his scientific contributions in this field. His insightful research has resulted in multiple research grants from the National Institutes of Health and the publication of numerous manuscripts in peer-reviewed medical and scientific literature, books and book chapters, and many invited national and international lectureships. He was the lead author on the American Thyroid Association Clinical Practice Guidelines on the Management of Thyroid Cancer in 2016. Dr. Haugen was honored by being elected and serving with distinction as the President of the American Thyroid Association in 2012-2013. He also received numerous prestigious awards, including the American Thyroid Association Paul Starr Award and Lectureship (2012) and Endocrine Society Edwin B Astwood Award Lecture (2012).
Dr. Jennifer Green is an associate professor of medicine in the division of endocrinology, metabolism, and nutrition at Duke University, is a faculty member of the Duke Clinical Research Institute, and has served as chief of the endocrinology section at the Durham VA medical center since 2003.
Dr. Green's clinical and research interests focus upon strategies to predict, prevent, and treat diabetes mellitus. In particular, she is interested in the effects of various interventions to modify glycemic control, dyslipidemia, and hypertension upon cardiovascular and other diabetes-related complications. She has served as an investigator in clinical trials of glycemic management in type 2 diabetes including ACCORD, BARI 2D, and the recently-initiated GRADE study. Her work with the DCRI includes protocol development as well as clinical and operational leadership for the institution's management of the international cardiovascular outcomes trial TECOS, which assessed the impact of sitagliptin therapy upon cardiovascular event rates. She also serves as chair of the clinical events adjudication committees for several large cardiovascular outcomes trials of antihyperglycemic medications.
Dr. Green completed her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Virginia, her internal medicine residency at the University of North Carolina, and her endocrinology fellowship at Duke University. She is boardcertified in both internal medicine and endocrinology

Steven Kahn, M.D., Ch.B., is a board-certified physician and the UW’s Leonard L. Wright & Marjorie C. Wright Term Chair of Medicine and a UW professor of Medicine and Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition.

Prof Stephan Petersenn studied medicine at the Universities of Kiel, Germany, and Vienna, Austria. He is qualified in Internal Medicine, Diabetology, Endocrinology, and Andrology. Previously, he has worked as an Intern (1991-1992) in the Department of Medicine, University of Kiel, as a Research Fellow (1992-1994) to Professor S. Melmed at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, USA, as a Resident and Fellow (1995-2000) in the Department of Medicine, University of Hamburg, and as a Senior Physician (2001- 2009) in the Division of Endocrinology, University of DuisburgEssen. In 2009, he founded the ENDOC Center for Endocrine Tumors in Hamburg, while remaining a member of the faculty of the University of Duisburg-Essen. IN 2003, he became Associate Professor, and in 2008 Professor of Medicine. His research focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of pituitary and adrenal tumors, as well as neuroendocrine tumors. Moreover, his clinical and basic studies aim for a better understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of somatostatin receptors. Throughout his career, Prof Petersenn has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals of high reputation, and he has presented at many international conferences. He is a member of several societies including the German Endocrine society, the European Society of Endocrinology, and The Endocrine Society. He is currently the elected speaker of the German Pituitary Study Group, and is elected member of the Board of the International Pituitary Society. Dr Wassim Chemaitilly currently serves as the Director of the Endocrinology Division at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, USA and has a joint faculty appointment with the institution’s Department of Epidemiology and Cancer Control where he conducts most of his clinical research. He is a pediatric endocrinologist with established interest in the longterm adverse effects of cancer and brain tumor treatments on the endocrine system. Dr Chemaitilly obtained his Medical Doctorate degree and Pediatric Medicine diploma at the Université René Descartes – Necker Enfants Malades in Paris, France before completing a Pediatric Endocrinology fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City in 2006.

Dr. Clifford Rosen is the Principal Investigator for the Rosen Musculoskeletal Laboratory at the Maine Medical Center Research Institute (MMCRI) and is board certified endocrinologist. Dr. Rosen has more than twenty-five years of continuous NIH funding, first at The Jackson Laboratory and subsequently at MMCRI. In 2007, Dr. Rosen moved from The Jackson Laboratory to MMCRI where he was appointed senior scientist and director of clinical and translational research. In the last ten years, the Rosen laboratory has been studying mesenchymal stem cell fate with particular reference to the switch between pre-adipocytes and pre-osteoblasts, and with a focus on the bioenergetic programs of those progenitors. There are currently four NIH funded projects in this laboratory, focused on a central theme of lineage allocation, its biochemical determinants and its alterations in osteoporosis. An R24 program project on the biology of marrow adiposity is now finishing in its 8th year at NIDDK and Dr. Rosen is the contact PI for that four center interdisciplinary program. Dr. Rosen is also a PI on an NIDDK R01 in collaboration with Roland Baron at Harvard Medical Dental School that examines the role of the PTH1R in cell fate, as well as an NIAMS R01 in collaboration with Charles Farber, which is studying mechanical strength in outbred strains of mice. Additionally, a U19 from NIA was recently awarded (in collaboration with M. Zaidi) to study the effects of FSH on marrow fat. Dr. Rosen is also the Director of the Physiology Core of the COBRE in Mesenchymal and Neural Regulation of Metabolic Networks (NIGMS); he oversees whole body and cell phenotyping related to metabolic function in mice. The Rosen laboratory continues to study mitochondrial function in osteoblasts which had been funded with a recently-completed R21 on control of osteogenic bioenergetics. Dr. Rosen serves as the Principal Investigator for a NIGMS sponsored U54: The Northern New England Clinical and Translational Research Network. Dr. Rosen is the past president of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research and is a council member for the Endocrine Society. He is currently an Associate Editor at New England Journal of Medicine and a Senior Editor at eLife. Dr. Rosen has published 527 peer-reviewed publications in Journals such as Nature, Nature Medicine, Cell, Cell Metabolism, PNAS, New England Journal and Lancet.

Dr. Erik Alexander is Chief, Thyroid Section at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Richard Auchus is the James A. Shayman and Andrea S. Kevrick Professor of Translational Medicine in the Departments of Pharmacology and Internal Medicine/MEND at the University of Michigan. He also serves as Endocrinology Section Chief at the Ann Arbor VA. He received his SB in Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his MD and PhD in Pharmacology from Washington University. He completed training in Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa and a fellowship in Endocrinology at the Wilford Hall USAF Hospital and UTHSC San Antonio. After postdoctoral work at the University of California, San Francisco, he joined the faculty at UT Southwestern in Dallas. He served as Acting Chief of the Divisions of Endocrinology and Translational Research at UT Southwestern before his relocation to Michigan in 2011, and he served as Program Director of the Endocrinology & Metabolism Fellowship from 2011-2018. Dr. Auchus and his group are active in research projects ranging from basic chemical principles of steroid biosynthetic enzymes and steroid mass spectrometry to clinical trials and translational investigation in disorders of the pituitary, adrenal, ovaries, and testes that cause hypertension, infertility, and obesity. His clinical interests also focus on pituitary, adrenal, and reproductive diseases that involve disorders of steroid production, and he is particularly interested in the care of adults with genetic disorders of steroid biosynthesis and action. He has authored over 280 journal articles and 30 book chapters, and he has lectured in a wide range of national and international conferences.
